Dear Colleagues,
First of all, it is my great pleasure to host the 14th Meeting of the German-Japanese Society of Dermatology (GJSD) in Japan.
As you know, we have continued fruitful meetings held in each country since the year 1987, and nurtured culture and friendship and also deepened scientific knowledge, by exchanging opinions and introducing current therapies or guidelines in German and Japanese dermatology.
So far, GJSD meeting was held in Hakone, Kurashiki, Nara, Tokushima, Yokohama, and Karuizawa in Japan. Also, post-congress was held in Nagasaki, Tokyo, Nikko, and Fukushima. The next meeting will be held in Matsushima, Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture.
Matsushima is a bay in Miyagi prefecture, 25 km north-east of the prefectural capital, Sendai. Matsushima is famous for its view of over the bay of the same name containing 260 tiny pine-clad islands. There are some 260 tiny islands covered in pines (matsu) - hence the name - and is ranked as one of the Three Views of Japan. We are planning scientific sessions and also social events, as usual.
Consecutive to Matsushima meeting, we will move to the post-congress in Nagoya, organized by Professor Akimichi Morita.
The year 2020 is the Olympic year in Japan. We hope that we can have many German guests in the next meeting in one of the best seasons, June.
Sincerely yours,
Toshiyuki Yamamoto, M.D., Ph.D.
President-Elect of the 14th meeting of the German-Japanese Society of Dermatology
