Welcome to the 2026 SID Annual Meeting. My presidential theme this year—Appreciation—celebrates the opportunities and dedication of our global skin research community that has led to the remarkable diversity, creativity, and achievements that define skin biology today. Whether you are an academic investigator, a practicing clinician, an industry innovator, a patient advocate, or part of the infrastructure that supports research in dermatology, your unique perspective enriches our field and strengthens our shared mission to improve skin health for all.
This meeting offers an exceptional forum to explore complementary emergent data spanning basic, translational, and clinical research. By bringing together ideas and discoveries from multiple disciplines and methodologies, we open new avenues for collaboration and foster a deeper understanding of the complexities of skin biology and dermatologic diseases. The proximity of cutting-edge findings presented here enables us to make connections that may otherwise take months—or years—to fully realize.
Importantly, our annual SID meeting represents the premiere opportunity for convergence of ideas that support the acceleration of discovery. When we integrate insights from bench science, clinical observation, therapeutic development, and lived patient experience, we create the conditions for more impactful research and faster innovation. While including updates on the exciting therapeutics in development today, the research presented in our annual meeting has been the foundation for tomorrow’s advances. The SID community has long demonstrated that breakthroughs arise when we learn from one another, challenge assumptions, and work collectively toward solutions. This year, I seek to highlight the many positive contributions from our members that have made our successes possible.
As we gather in 2026, I invite you to engage fully—ask questions, share your expertise, and appreciate the contributions of colleagues across every sector. Your participation strengthens our Society and advances a culture of mutual respect, curiosity, and collaboration.
